Dr. Michael T. Scott, Sr. has been a Licensed Funeral Director and Mortician since May of 2002. As a child, young Michael always had aspiration of becoming a Licensed Mortician. At the tender of age of 14 he began his career in Funeral Service as a junior funeral attendant at Young’s Funeral Home of Milford, Delaware where he also assisted with washing cars and cleaning the funeral home. At the age of 15, Dr. Scott accepted the call to ministry and pursued his undergraduate and seminary degrees at Virginia Union University of Richmond, Virginia and upon completion accepted the role of Pastor at the historic Jerusalem Baptist Church of Temperanceville, Virginia. While serving the flock of God, Dr. Scott returned to his mortuary roots by working part-time as a funeral attendant at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Inc. of Pocomoke City, Maryland and New Church, Virginia. Dr. Scott decided to go back to school to pursue his mortuary education in pursuit of a license to practice Mortuary Science.  He enrolled in the Bright Pointe Community College (formerly John Tyler Community College) of Chester, Virginia and completed his Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Funeral Services in less than one year. In the same year, Dr. Scott completed his apprenticeship and passed his National and State Board examinations and obtained his Mortician’s license to practice in the States of Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia. He later served as the Supervising Mortician of Bennie Smith Funeral Home of Salisbury, Princess Anne, and Pocomoke City, Maryland. In 2009, Dr. Scott partnered with Dr. Bennie L. Smith in the establishment of Smith & Scott Funeral Home, Inc. of Exmore and Accomac, Virginia. After relocating to the State of Michigan to accept the call to serve as Senior Pastor of The Galilee Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Dr. Scott immediately sat for the State Board Examination for licensure in Michigan and began to serve at Harper Funeral Home of Kalamazoo and Family Funeral Home, LLC of Benton Harbor, Michigan.  Currently, Dr. Scott is President/CEO of Michael T. Scott, Funeral Director, LLC, an embalming and administrative trade service to licensed Funeral Homes throughout the state of Michigan.
